Vetkey Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how VetKey collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our websites and web application at myvetkey.com and vetkey.app, and any related services (collectively, the “Services”).
The Services are operated by J1 Media Productions LLC, an Arizona limited liability company, doing business as VetKey (“VetKey,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the Services.
1) Information We Collect
A) Account and contact information
When you create an account or use VetKey, we collect:
- Email address (required)
- Phone number (optional, if you provide it)
We may also collect basic account metadata (e.g., account creation date, subscription status).
B) Profile and eligibility matching information (user-provided)
To personalize benefit/discount discovery and eligibility matching, we collect information you choose to provide. Depending on your choices in the app, this may include:
- Military affiliation details (e.g., veteran/service member/dependent; branch; rank; service era; service status)
- Household details relevant to filtering/matching (e.g., marital status; dependents; homeowner status; employment/student status; GI Bill eligibility)
- State of residence
- VA disability rating percentage (if you choose to provide it)
We do not require you to provide all profile fields, and you may choose what to submit.
We do not collect or store:
- Social Security numbers
- Driver’s license or passport numbers
- Government ID document images
- Medical records
- DD214 documents or discharge paperwork
- Full sensitive identity documents
C) Date of birth / age verification
VetKey is intended for adults. We may collect age/age confirmation information sufficient to verify you are 18 or older. We do not need sensitive identity documents for this purpose.
D) Location information
If you enable location permissions, we may collect precise or approximate device location to provide location-based features (e.g., nearby resources and map experiences).
We do not store location history long-term. Location data may be retained only for a limited period as necessary for:
providing core location-based functionality,
security and fraud prevention,
troubleshooting and service improvement,
as described in the Data Retention section.
You can turn off location permissions at any time, but some features may not function.
E) Communications and support
If you contact us (support requests, bug reports, account issues), we collect the information you provide in messages and related support details.
F) Usage and device information
We collect information about how you use VetKey, which can include:
- IP address
- device and browser type
- operating system
- pages/screens viewed
- interactions (e.g., clicks, feature usage)
- timestamps and diagnostic logs
- approximate location inferred from IP (common for security and analytics)
G) Payment and subscription information
If you purchase a subscription, payments are processed by Stripe (or another payment processor). VetKey does not store full payment card details.
We may receive and store limited billing information needed to provide the Services, such as:
- subscription status (active/canceled)
- plan type (monthly/annual)
- billing dates
- payment confirmation and transaction identifiers (e.g., invoice IDs)
H) User content; uploads
VetKey does not currently allow document or image uploads. Do not send sensitive personal information or documents through the Services.
If you submit content within community features (e.g., reviews/comments/forums), that content is processed to operate the community features and enforce our rules.
2) How We Use Information
We use information to operate and improve VetKey, including to:
- create and manage accounts
- provide eligibility matching and personalized discovery
- provide location-based features (when enabled)
- process subscriptions and manage billing status
- provide customer support
- communicate with you (account/service notices and marketing emails, where permitted)
- monitor, maintain, and improve performance
- troubleshoot bugs and errors
- secure the Services and prevent fraud/abuse
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms
3) Eligibility and Informational Disclaimer
Eligibility matching and listings are provided for informational purposes only. VetKey is not affiliated with the VA, DoD, or any government agency, and does not provide legal, financial, medical, or tax advice. Providers and merchants control their own offers and eligibility and may change them at any time. You should verify terms directly with the provider/merchant.
4) How We Share Information
A) We do not sell your personal information
VetKey does not sell personal information.
B) Sharing limited to operating the Services
We share information only as needed to operate VetKey and provide the Services, including with service providers who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
Categories of providers may include:
- hosting and infrastructure
- database/storage
- payment processing
- analytics/measurement
- error monitoring and logging
- email delivery and customer support tools
C) Legal, safety, and business transfers
We may share information:
- to comply with law or respond to lawful requests
- to protect the rights, safety, and security of VetKey, users, or the public
- to investigate or prevent fraud and abuse
- to enforce our Terms
- in connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets)
D) Aggregated or de-identified information
We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you.
5) Third-Party Services We Use
We use third-party services to run VetKey. These services may collect or receive information in order to provide their features.
Examples include:
Payments
- Stripe (subscription payments)
Infrastructure
- Supabase (database/auth/back-end services)
- Netlify (web hosting/deployment)
Maps / Location
- Mapping/location services and map layers (including Google Maps platform components where applicable)
- External directions may open in third-party map apps/services
Analytics
- Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics/GA4) to understand usage and improve the Services
Monitoring
- Error monitoring and logging providers (e.g., Sentry)
Support
- Customer support tools and business email providers

6) Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- keep you signed in
- remember preferences
- support security features
- measure usage to improve the Services
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect functionality.
7) Your Choices and Controls
Account information
You can review and update certain account and profile information in your account settings.
Location permissions
You can enable or disable location permissions in your browser or device settings. If disabled, location-based features may not work.
Marketing emails
We may send marketing emails. You can opt out using the unsubscribe link in those emails. You will still receive essential service/account messages when necessary (e.g., billing, security, policy updates).
8) Data Export and Deletion
Export
VetKey may provide ways to access or export your personal account data. Exporting or copying the VetKey directory/listings at scale is prohibited by our Terms.
Deletion
You can delete your account from within VetKey. When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account, subject to the Data Retention section below and applicable law.
9) Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Services and for legitimate business purposes such as:
- maintaining security
- preventing fraud/abuse
- debugging and system integrity
- complying with legal obligations
- resolving disputes and enforcing agreements
Location data retention: We do not store location history long-term. Any retained location data is limited and kept only as necessary for the purposes above.
Retention periods vary by data type and purpose.
10) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11) Children’s Privacy
VetKey is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12) International Use
VetKey is operated in the United States and intended for U.S.-based users. U.S. service members and veterans located abroad may use the Services. If you use VetKey from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States.
13) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date when changes are made. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice through the Services or by email.
